Susan Boyle. People were prepared for her to be awful. And from comments people have posted on various sites about this, this stemmed from her appearance, I guess.

But why would a pudgy, not so pretty woman be a bad singer? Why would everyone expect a bad voice?

I grew up watching PBS. I watched a lot of opera. And most of those sopranos were on the heavy side. Often a lot larger than Susan Boyle. And most of them were not terribly attractive either. But those voices...!

Media today has a lot to answer for it people think only skinny, pretty people can have a great voice.

its not about having a great voice. if ur pretty and skinny u can have a mediocre voice, but show ur tits and ass a little bit every so often and you can be a star: for example britney spears not at all a good singer, mediocre but lots of scandals and events and she is popular

Cause todays society wants to promote only the beautiful people. And as far that story goes....its because its "feel good" story. As in to make you feel sorry.

She does more than that, she is a great entertainer, and puts a lotta hard work into her shows, she goes way back, and she has what it takes, it wasn't just her t&a that got her where she is, her songs are damn good, ask the majority, they all love her..and she works her ass off which is more than I can say for her loser husband, k-fed, big mistake, he is riding her gravy train, no talent bum.

Something similar happened to Jennifer Hudson...

Then she won an Oscar, Grammy Award, a BAFTA Award, a Golden Globe Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award among other awards....

One should never judge a book by it's cover...

aretha franklin used to be on the heavy side, and has lost a lot of weight, but no matter what weight she was, she was able to rule the divas. nobody even came close, not mariah carey, or celine dion, patty la-bell(sp), nobody....awesome!!!!

Had to look her up Moon. Wow....beautiful voice! Inspiring really.
