The modern Shanachie

Like a modern Shanachie, on the highways
And byways of the internet
He comes travelling through cyberspace
Until he reaches JSH town.
His mission? To teach and show us a way
To a better world unknown.

Magician of words, juggler of phrases
Teller of stories and poems.
Teacher to those who will listen
Debater to those who won’t.

He always has something to say
About religion and philosophy
And many of us gather around
To listen to our Shanachie.

Opinionated, strong in his beliefs,
Never insulting, fair to a fault
He stands his ground with dignity
Against the greatest assault.

His sense of humour is out of this world
Really dry and abound
He made us laugh so many times
We long ago ran out of count.

Like children we sit around him
And ask him to tell us a tale.
He looks at us and thinks a while
He never will us fail.

The stories he tells us are cyber tales
His plots are always sublime.
He features the people that are around
And makes up places and time.

When he’s finished he publishes it
For all of us to see,
He gives us the time to read it all
And awaits our comments with glee.

And now we are sitting here again
Looking up to him for a tale out of our history
Please don’t let us wait too long
Abra, our modern Shanachie.
