I have met many people in my life-time that seem to think that being "Egotistical" and having a "Self-Confident" attitude about yourself are the same characteristics, and that there's no difference!whoa

What do you think?huh

I think that self confidence is usually quiet and being assured in yourself. Egotistical is when people find the need to pat themselves on the back usually very loudly and most often because no one else is doing it for them.

I strongly disagree. Self-confidence exudes itself in different ways than arrogance and being egotistical. It's more like being sure enough of yourself not to worry or feel uncomfortable in the presence of others. Egotism puts the "me" first, and you tend to dominate a conversation, never ask about the other person, and are probably genuinely not interested in anything they say anyway!

Egotistical is everything about me me me. Good self esteem is that balance between knowing and loving yourself and the ability to share it with others in a good way

Now ain't I good!!!

LOL

Hiya Fiestyflowerforyou

I've actually met a few people that did the "pat on their own back" thing, but claimed they were self-confident about themselves and deserved that "pat on the back"grumble

I think the people that think that are wrong!

You can be self confident without being selfish.

Hiyas Ms. Rose flowerforyou

I have met those people as well. It is one thing to carry yourself with pride and know you are trying to be the best you can be but quite another to demand that everyone else know it as well.

My huge and over inflated ego tells me that I should be self-confident.

Let's face it....it just ain't gonna fly to be a self-absorbed ego-mainiac if I ain't got no confidence.

You can't have one if you don't have the other.

Thanks
I think it would be really hard to be in the teaching profession and not have self-confidence, but at the same time having true empathy and concern for my students is what builds good classroom relationship.

There is no fine line Honey.

This entire conversation wouldn't have to happen if everyone would simply acknowledge my absolute superiority. But...nooooooooo!
