Divorced people as damaged goods?

No, of course not it their issues have been resolved. If they haven't resolved their issues, just like in any other situation, then yes, they are damaged.

not dammaged in the least. edison tried one thousand times before the lightbulb was successful. the other 999 were just learning experiences. it's all about what you want out of life, before you stop and try a different path, or find what works for you in specific.

imagine if edison stopped at 525.

At the very least I know more of what I want & what I don't from a potential partener now & it also has made me a bit stand offish.

Nah. Many people marry too young and too quickly these days, by the time you're middle aged it's hard to find someone who hasn't been divorced. So it kind of depends on the number of divorces. I've you've divorced 8 times, you might be the damage itself.

This thought had never entered into my mind....until now, reading this post. And everything I was going to say has already been said, and very eloquently, might I add.

Simply put, No.

I guess it depends on how messy the divorce was.
Divorce is one thing. A lot of Extra baggage (we all have some, I know) can be totally different (depending on circumstances).

To be perfectly honest...I'm more concerned with someone (especially over age 40 or 50) that hasn't been married...makes me wonder if they have commitment issues or just want to play the field. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that, but I'd rather have more in common with someone...& unfortunately, one of those things is divorce. There's no shame if your marriage didn't work out for any reason...unless you bring shame to yourself & constantly rag on that person... It didn't work out...let it go & move on...ohwell

Could not have said it any better!

To me those that get Divorced and can come to terms with their feelings and move on in life has learned a valuable lesson in life. That at times we must finally admit that things in life are not always perfect and will remain that way. Just because your marriage did not work out does not mean you're broken. There are times when you have to finally admit that it was just not meant to be.

To me if anyone could be consider damage goods it would be those that can not deal with hate they have inquired from the break up either from a relationship or marriage. Instead they let it eat them up inside constantly only seeing the fault within the other person. They no longer see what it was that actually caught their attention and the good within that person. When one holds that much hate for another person it is really hard for them to move on and be able to give all in future relationships. This is just my opinion

It doesn't take marriage or divorce to make someone damaged,it can happen before they even get that far.The true test is how they recover from it ,and move on.
