I was rasied Roman Catholic and did the whole shabang with it. They life I chose to live though does not allow me to be a practicing one. I still believe in higher beings and God, I still ask for forgiveness every night and give thanks every morning.

i have nothing against religion in and of itself, but i know too much about it academically to be able to relate to it spiritually.

I believe all major organised religions have no truth in them.

My faith in this fact is as strong as anyone's who believe in them.

There may be some kind of God, or other spiritual being. But there is no evidence to support it, and therefore no reason to worry about worshipping anyone or anything.

Edit your first post. You can edit the title too.

the issue for me isnt a lack of evidence, its evidence directly against it.look up similarities between the stories of jesus and horus from egyption mythology (several thousand years before) or any other religions.90% are the same at the base. most people dont even know the quran is largly christian gospels just like the new testament. which in itself was only an amalgamation of various stories, commishioned by an emporer to keep the peace. yes yes,i cant be right etc, look it up.

i could go on forever but thats all i care to at the moment.
how many people have strong beliefs other than religous?

Thats what has convinced me against the major religions. But there is no way of proving that something else doesn't exist, which is why i keep the option of something being out there open.

Beliefs do not have to be religious. They can just be "isms", credos, tried and true rules/laws................

And, I don't know what you mean that you misspelled "beliefs" in your title.

I think the funniest thing I have run across, is you get people who will claim that the stories are vastly different, and in no way similar simply because a small part of the story, which really doesn't affect the story at all is different.(Like Jesus' 3 wise men, and Horus' 3 gods)

i know they dont, but so far the only beliefs mentioned have been religous.i personally believe in a philosophy of personal strength (physical included but not a focus) wherin i try to be the most that i can be overall.will power intelligence, physical conditioning.anything usefull.largly because i think that anything that happens to a person that isnt purely circumstantial is their responsability.getting taken out in a gas station explosion, thats just bad luck, but failing a test or being out of shape etc..
i have a long complicated and out dated system of values etc but thats near the top.
yea i fixed it.

lol exactly.didnt really expect anyone else to know much about it.in seriousness though,im not trying to tear down religion or convince any one their religion is wrong,im just saying that i dont, and why i dont agree, and wondering about other beliefs and values.

I have a belief that I am no better or less than any other.

I have a belief that if I do what is inherantly right, FOR me... if I listen to the strong voice of truth....then I am living a full life.

I have a belief that one knows for themselves the basic tenets of existance... of being a spiritual being , having a human experience.

lol hocus pocus? what do you call a belief? belief, the way im applying it atleast doesnt always mean things like you talk to your invisable friend in the sky,or that you think you have to be literally better than anyone else. just what you feel strongly about.whats important to you.what makes you do the things you do.

i see.

in that case - i have my own sense of honor that i hold myself to.

i do my best to not give into anything else. i very much do not like the idea of bending your life to cater to other people's beliefs.

i know, i know - i'm an idealist

no,no,well yes,you are an idealist, but i can relate since im the same way.

Well i believe in the 7 principles of spiritualism.

In fact, i just got home from the spiritualist society, and there was a medium on who is also a psychic artist.
He came to me and described my paternal Gran, gave me her character, and described her physically and then at the end he gave me a drawing of her which he had done earlier.

I went to my sisters house afterwards, and asked my mum if she recognized the picture, and she identified her as my paternal gran.

It was pretty amazing, and i will treasure the pic.

All ya need is some good evidence, then theres no going back. I personally have had much evidence over the yrs, and this was just as special.
