My parents were co-workers. Still married after 41 years. But the rules of today are different from back then.

For sure.

I love movies from back then. I bet they went to see them all. That was the end of our innocence and the start of our 'realized' freedom. All I can think of is Ann-Margret and Elvis now, what a time! love

How to 'not' ask your co-worker for a date isn't grammatically correct though!

I know I am comme il faut! It's a love it or leave it characteristic of mine. flowers

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm.
Most people here are saying no, but a lot of folks do and find 'true love'

yes lot of folks find true love in the office. I think a few precaution should be kept in mind while dating a coworker which can help us to carry on easily.

a date ???

Think carefully about your job. A failed work-place romance can have serious negative effects on your work. Do not enter in to this lightly.

I don't.shades

Don't go number two where you work.

Simple. The chances of it ending, and ending poorly, well, they are higher than a sappy success story.

And don't get me started on the boundaries needing independence part. happy

I think, it is a good idea to keep work-place romances between the two . Don't show a lot of affection towards each other while at work, as this will make your co-workers uncomfortable.

Simple...

1. Don't date someone you work with.
2. Don't date someone RELATED to someone you work with. (Trust me on this one!) ohwell

I think it all depends on the workplace rules, as well as the maturity (or lack thereof) of the people involved.

One company I worked for had a pretty open policy regarding that. They had to - they were the largest company in the area, and it was fairly rural. Lots of spouses worked for them, and I had several co-workers meet and marry. The company only had one rule regarding the situation - you were not allowed to work in the same department as your spouse/SO. So, they would transfer one person to another area, just to keep personal drama as much to a minimum as possible.

I have always avoided dating anyone I worked with, but it's my own personal choice. If others find happiness with a co-worker, I say good on 'em :)

For me, it had nothing to do with work place rules, or maturity. But, I'm sure for some, that could be what it depends on.

Good point - there could be lots of reasons to not do so :)
