Its a pain living alone with a busted tibia platau and having to use a walker. It has given me more compassion for the people that I encounter in public that has to use walkers or canes.

You want to race???

Mine has wheels and a seat!
When I first got mine I thought I was going to die from blushing .
Long since got over that. Took it out for a spin yesterday and got the exercise I so desperatewly needed bigsmile . Guess we never know what something feels like till we wear someone elses shoes  .

May you heal well and swiftly! flowerforyou

Thankyou so very much. You would win the race though. Workers comp paid for my walker. So its the cheapest one with just two small wheels in front. Not very fast.

It's a b!tch, there's no question. The best trick is figuring out how to get a cup of coffee from the kitchen to the living room.

Some people may know about this place. There is a huge flea market type thing down near Mesa, Arizona ("huge" is rather an understatement). Being the bullheaded German/Polack/French Canadian that I am, I walked the entire thing!

I paid for it afterward, but by God, I walked it!

I really dislike the truckin' along part and getting STOPPED dead in your tracks when you hit a dip in the pavement, or a doorway strip when you forget to lift the walker up. laugh

I allmost popped a wheelie with mine. shades

Well luckly I live in a small studio apt. So my coffee pot is pretty much within reach of my computer desk ( which I have moved to the kitchen ) And my table that sits beside my chair. And going to a flea market is out of the question for now. I get pooped out just doing the house work with this thing.

People are rude and non-accepting of those who are not as quick to get around these days. With the pressure of deadlines and the luxury of so many conveniences, those who are not able-bodied "get in the way".

We all need to slow down and see what is around us and enjoy each other more.

I have been lucky so far. Thanks to spending three months in a retirement and rehab place for three months that taught me how to walk with a walker I havent fallen.

I never went for any rehab, I just defied them and did everything they told me not to do. I just took my time and didn't overdo it. Sitting my hind end at home doesn't pay the bills, and I was fairly certain that the doctors weren't gonna pay 'em for me.

Isn't it wonderful how a dr will tell you to take 2 months off work then send you a bill for a few thousand dollars and expect you to pay it asap

So very true. I almost got ran into yesturday and knocked down while going through walmart. This experience has been a real eye opener for me. I look at this as God has allowed this to happen to give me more compassion and understanding and patience for all those that have disabilites. Because being in that place for those three months I got to see alot of differant types of ailments and disabilaties. Even those that caused the deaths of those that I was able to share time with ( which broke my heart ). But, I was able to recieve joy as I was able to play the piano for them which brought joy to them. And in playing for them a couple of them wept and accepted Christ as thier savior. So I reckon me breaking my tibia platau has served a perpose. And yes, to see the joy and happiness that I was able to see in those faces as I played. and to bring people to the Lord, I would do it all over again. Pain and all.
