Topic: Stupid Drunk Driving Law

I was not going to even reply to this BUT here I go..I guess if you have lost a loved one due to someone being drunk and behind the wheel, then you feel totally different then others feel. I lost my cousin to a drunk driver..she left 4 kids behind to face the world on their own. Why? Because a bunch of teens decided to drink and drive...so when you mix alcohol and a vehicle..its not a good combination.
Sure, your friend was not actually driving YET..but you have NO clue what he was going to do!! Your friend probably doesn't even know what he was going to do ONCE he woke up! He actually went out side, got behind the wheel and put the key into the ignition. Did he actually pass out before he started the car or did he really decide to sleep it off?
People keep saying its all money but I say its all about public safety. If we didn't have laws could you imagine how crazy this world would be? I say if you want to drink then drink BUT take in consideration other peoples safety..you are not the only person out there on the road! Life is not just about you and if you think it is, you have a very hard lesson to learn. If you are going to drink then take every single precaution to getting home safely, not just for you but for every single person out there.
Good luck and God Bless flowerforyou

i feel for your lose

but how is ticketing those sleeping int their car where they drank stop anyone from being hurt

if anything it encourages them to drive thus endangering the public

if they are going to get a ticket anyway they might as well drive the penalty is the same

how many thought this and killed someone because they of this very same thing

if i had lost someone i would be furious that they are almost pushing the drunk to drive

Did (this person) who was not in possession of a fishing license actually intend to go fishing just because there was equipment in the boat, or were they just going for a boat ride?

Did the person who was hanging pictures earlier in the day who forgot to put the hammer away intend to use it as a weapon if they got into an argument with their spouse later, or was it just an innocent lapse in memory to remember to put it away?

Just because a man has a penis between his legs, does that mean he intends to commit rape?

Something that really chaps my ass is, you could not have a single thing to drink ALL DAY, except for perhaps a glass of water or a soda sometime in the afternoon. That evening, a cop pulls you over for something minor, and one of the first things they'll ask you is if you've been drinking. It doesn't matter if you're a teetotaler and never touch a drop of the stuff, everyone is automatically expected that they do. You tell the cop, "No, I haven't," and he (or she) will ALWAYS respond, "'Cause I can smell alcohol coming from inside your car." No, you can't. It's a trap, just to use as an excuse to get you to do the drunk test, and to give them some excuse (under the guise of "probable cause") to search your vehicle.

Too many people don't know their constitutional amendment rights. Cops know this, and they use it to their advantage.

I don't understand what the big deal is if the police do want to search your car? If you are not hiding anything and you are a following all the rules, then everything should be alright.
I guess if you have someone in your family that is or was a police officer..then you don't look at it like Officers of the Law are crooked? I just do what I am suppose to do then I have nothing to hide.

Instead of even driving to the bar that night, because he knew he was going to drink...why not ask a friend that doesn't drink to go along? Trust me, I go with my friends because I don't drink and I am always the DD. I make sure they get home safely after they had a good time.

The "big deal" is, I don't HAVE to let them search my vehicle. I have rights, according to the 4th amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America.

Are you serious? You could sit here and argue so many different things BUT in the end..the facts are the facts!! If you are drunk, don't get behind the wheel EVER!!!

You damn RIGHT, I'm serious! Using your argument, all those other things I mentioned should be just as liable for incarceration. Tell me I'm wrong.

Well then DON'T let them search your car!! Not every single cop is bad! Its not always about money!
I myself, am glad that there are cops out there that does a fantastic job! Sure there are some cops out there that are complete jerks but just because there are some bad apples, doesn't mean they all are!

I don't think every man intends to rape a woman just because he has a penis between his legs..do you? I think that is going a little bit to far!
I think sometimes people grasp at things just trying to prove a point?

I'm no angel, but when I go out these days we designate a driver, it's the best thing to do.

no argument there

put it is not change the fact that the law is unjust

maybe he was not planning on drinking

and ran into people he had not seen for a long time and the celebration got out of hand so he decided to sleep in his car till it wore off
