Being strong and independant are two positive traits, and they do not intimidate me.

However, i might be put off by someone that describes themself in this way. I find that these strong and independent women are often neither. The term sometimes is another way to say 'i have a chip on my shoulder about letting a man do anything for me'.

IN my experience, I find that most of the men I attract or am attracted to like my independence, they also like it that I have a balance. I can be very dependent on some things and fiercely independent on others. I think I recently told someone.
I don't need you I want you to want and need me.

I totally agree with Sitka. Except that I am attracted to ladies, she can have the guy.bigsmile
But I haven't said that to anyone lately that I know of.

A Strong and Independent Woman?

I know I'm not.

I want a woman who doesn't cling to me like saran wrap.

That sh*t sucks! I have to deal with it at work, what an awful contraption...just sticks to itself in all kinds of terrible positions, doesn't wrap worth a damn! Hate it!

Not afraid. as long as its heathy and not as some have mentioned as a chip on the sholder or a clame that has no merrit. I would hope that you are independent enough to not need continual aproval for existing and that you are strong enough to be asertive and not agressive.

I am much more comfortable around strong independant women, which is one of the biggest reasons I am more attracted to older woman.

I've known some to be turned off by it. I've also encountered some who want a woman to handle the crap for them...the emotionally difficult stuff. But I know a lot of guys who wouldn't want a woman who is weak or needy.

Not intimidated at all, but pretty annoyed at how SOME of them make such a huge deal about it. Honestly, I liked it better when people didn't have such a huge chip on their shoulder, there's no shame in just being a woman, there's no reason to make sure the whole world knows how "independent" a person is, we all get it, and we're all sooooooooo impressed. whoa

I surely dont think we should be condemned for it. Im a single mom. Left my sons father when he was 2 as he wouldnt stop the drinking and drugging life style. He never did the child support thing. No i dont want sympathy! I did it.. i did it myself.. ive put myself through college, ive bought a place to call home, I drive a decent vehicle. My son never went without, but yes we did struggle. I am rather proud of myself for that.

I could have sat back, went on state aid... and did nothing my entire life... so ya... im kinda proud of me...who I am... and what I represent... thank you very much

there's a difference between being proud of what you accomplished and who you are, and being an attention whore who walks around screaming "look at me look at me, look at how independent I am!!!!!11" I'm not condemning women who TRULY are independent, I'm just tired of the ones who put on a show because of it, some of these women have an arrogance that comes along with it as well, which is a huge turn off. Congrats on getting through all that, you have a lot to be proud of, good luck with everything.
