Topic: Have you Lost Your First Love? | |

Revelation 2 1Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks; 2I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars: 3And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name's sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted. 4Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. 5Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent. |

Beautyfrompain, thanks for reminding me about this....there is always something to work on.
I realize that backsliding is not only about returning to cheating or adultery or lies. It is also about any form of decline from the way we once loved God deeply... that deep love that made the word of God so sweet and perfect to our hearts...before we became encumbered with countless desires and activities that left us with less time for study of God's word, prayer and Christian fellowship...etc..etc. Thanks for the reminder. |

Do you really know what this verses refer to or are you just bringing Them up because they are there?... |

The topic relates to verse 4 of your post. My GOD has revived the first love in me. |

Perhaps Galatians 5: 19-21 is useful is helping us exercise the care we need to daily exercise as we seek to draw closer to God and seek HIM for restoration of first love:
Galatians 5:19-21: 19 Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, 20 idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, 21 envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. May God's grace and mercy multiply in our lives. The implication is that each one of us (including me), MUST kick these things out of lives, if we want to really enter heaven. This is of course not by our power but through complete dependence upon the grace of God through JESUS CHRIST. What GOD needs is our willingness and complete surrender to HIS will. God help us all. Amen! |
