Two days for me

I have done up to seven, but managed sink baths most days. My hair was pretty nasty by the end though. Yay camping. At least the campground DID have running water.

I bought one of those portable shower dealie things. It works for those times when you have nothing else! You have to have a tree though.

Yeah, except I was one of only two girls on the trip and it was a "keep up with the guys" kind of thing. Not that I was about to jump in the cold mountain creek, the way they did. You should have heard them yell! Meanwhile, us girls were cooking a real breakfast of sausages and apples over the fire. The boys all drooled, but they had only brought oatmeal. The looks they gave us made the whole trip worth it! |

I shower twice a day because I work two different jobs. One at a school and one in a hot, dirty factory. However we had an ice storm a few years back and was without electricity for 5 days and I live in the country with well water and a pump. I went through boxes of baby wipes. Couldn't even flush the toilet. YUCK

Went 8 days during survival school and lost 25 lbs. When given the choice of a shower or food I chose a meal and then food...lol Besides, after a while you get olfactory fatigue and dont smell your own funk (unless the wind shifts)

After a cat 3, 4 or 5 hurricane here, we are without electricity, sometimes water, and all of the essentials for anywhere from 3 - 9 days. So - showers are a big luxury, especially after working outside, clearing debris, cutting limbs, repairing fences and property.
I try to build a makeshift shower and let the water heat up in the sun. It gets pretty bad - especially washing clothing in a big bucket by hand. By the time the power comes back on, it is everyone to the showers, loads of laundry being done, and then everyone to their own corners for fresh, cool air and much needed sleep. |
