Sadness is following me today like wisps of smoke
I can smell the scent of it in the air and feel its cold heat
Tears run like raindrops down my face chasing one another
Like footsteps across the terrain of my soul

I am blinded by a sorrow I can’t seem to shake
I feel bleak tired and my mind can’t find its peaceful center
My heart feels heavy within my chest
And I ache with longing for what I miss

I miss the call of your soul to mine
The connection of love that’s now elusive
The touch of soothing hands
The beat of a heart now gone

I miss the sound of your voice
Your whispers in the dark
Your shout of release
Your sigh of contentment

I miss your eyes that spoke to me from across a room
The look of love that stirred my inner most desires
The wordless communication that we shared
The expression of satisfaction that’s lost to me now

I feel so restless and out of place
The space by my side is so empty
You’re gone and time has slowed to a standstill
My arms are empty with no one to hold

Sadness is following me today….
