Topic: Reality vs. Fantasy | |

So your telling me that your not mickey mouse Oh well you seem ok this far What I'm saying is that while most of the people are real the images they construct, both for themselves and others, are not. This is essentially an adult fantasy playground. Oh, and thanks. You seem okay too... Wanna play on the marry-go-round with me Well I tried No I prefer the rollercoaster. The Marry-Go-Round is the ride of the devil. I'd prefer being locked into a room and forced to listen to Barry Manilow music for ten straight hours than get on that ride again. Well never seen a roller coaster on a playground amusement park yes, we could always have a nice swing |

I got fooled once and, based on all the other stories I read about - from people I know and trust in real life - there are many people who are fake, and live a life of a lie online. Therefore, my rule of thumb is to think that everyone is a phony until I am proven otherwise. Believe it. She did it to me! She forced me to cam with her before she believed I was real. We've since met in person twice. I can't tell you what she made me do but she believes I'm plenty real now :D Did a little plumbing, didja. she made me fix breakfast wearing nothing but an apron and a sailor hat I have a very strong urge to ask if Little Smokies were involved.... |

we all have alittle fantasy in one way or another but for the most ive met people that are true and live in the real world here and i wouldnt trade them for the world I've met a few from these sites that are indeed as advertised, but the large percentage have not been who they claim. I've been ruminating on this ever since I read a thread the other day where several people thought an accidental meeting of another member in the "real" world would be awkward and embarrassing. The reason I keep coming back to is because upon meeting, the fantasy bubble would have to burst. i understand where your coming from i guess i just want to belive the best in everyone how ever you have a good point |

I didn't see that thread, so maybe I misunderstood your OP. I doubt I'd feel awkward at all, or even slightly embarassed. However, it depends on the person involved and the situation as to whether I'd find myself talkative or not. Certain people bring out the chattiness and with others I've a shy streak. I didn't see that thread either. Why would an accidental meeting of someone from here in real life be awkward or embarrassing? |

I didn't see that thread either. Why would an accidental meeting of someone from here in real life be awkward or embarrassing? Because perhaps some people's fantasies here are preferrable to reality. The fantasy that they've cultivated would go *poof*. I can't think of another reason. Surely there is no longer a stigma attached to being on an internet site. Even if there were, why would seeing another member of the same site be embarrassing unless you wanted to hide from reality? |

After being on this site for more than a year and having previously been on similar sites, I've come to believe that this is about 90% fantasy. Certainly the occasional reality slips through the cracks even if it is accidental. I exist only within the imagination of others |
