i posted almost two years ago that jsh/mingle is actually a complete fantasy which grew cancerously out of a fourth grade computer class project. it is all fictitious with fake profiles, imaginary topics, fabricated controversies and plastic popcorn.

After being on this site for more than a year and having previously been on similar sites, I've come to believe that this is about 90% fantasy. Certainly the occasional reality slips through the cracks even if it is accidental. While there are few exceptions I can categorically claim that most women on this site love to live the fantasy of their youth when they had good few people chasing after them. As such they collect Emails and claims of people looking at their profiles and they seem to get a high on that You've hit on another interesting fantasy aspect of sites like these. All this attention given to people, that might not be getting it in the real world, is a powerful component of the fantasy construct. |

Like yourself I have been on this site for a while and while I don't give a hoot to whatever is thought of me on this site I can tell you I date quite nicely quite regularly with ladies with no problem and as such I have gathered a large number of friends. That is one reason why I am not here very often
additionally it is easier to meet people in the following places Costco Barnes and Nobles Boarders Farmers Markets on Sundays believe me this site is just good for friends. |

I've been online since the only experience online was listservs, and there was drama and fantasy even then, lol. I've wandered away from the 'Net for years at a time (at least when it comes to chatting/forums), and sometimes it feels like the story never changes, it's just the characters who do.
To a certain extent, I think there is much truth to the OP. However, in most cases it's benign fantasy. A person who struggles to express themselves in person might find safety behind the computer screen, and suddenly find his/her voice. In more extreme cases, I have seen people who have "died" and miraculously came back, and others who concocted the most dramatic poor me tales you could think of, because they were so desperate to get attention that they were willing to take it however they could. Personally, I try to look for the best in people, because I like to hope that others are doing the same with me. I am not naive by any stretch of the imagination, and I am guarded when I discuss personal things, but I try to give others the benefit of the doubt. I try to operate under the "fool me once, shame on you" theory for each individual. |

Oh well you seem ok this far |

I got fooled once and, based on all the other stories I read about - from people I know and trust in real life - there are many people who are fake, and live a life of a lie online. Therefore, my rule of thumb is to think that everyone is a phony until I am proven otherwise. Believe it. She did it to me! She forced me to cam with her before she believed I was real. We've since met in person twice. |

So your telling me that your not mickey mouse Oh well you seem ok this far What I'm saying is that while most of the people are real the images they construct, both for themselves and others, are not. This is essentially an adult fantasy playground. Oh, and thanks. You seem okay too... |

The Marry-Go-Round is the ride of the devil. I'd prefer being locked into a room and forced to listen to Barry Manilow music for ten straight hours than get on that ride again. |
