Hi everyone.
Tommorrow I am giving my annual speach to my little
league team about why you show respect to the flag during the National
Anthem.
I heard from someone that one of my new players is a
Johavah's
witness and they don't honor the flag or at least not in this way.
Does anyone know if this is true? If it is what would I
sxpect this child to do during the playing of the National anthem?
Trying to research this I read that they don't believe
in being part of a sports team. What to do???

they do not get into political or world affairs, and they don't like the
police. go to www.rickross.com for information.

masterpiece,
That's what I was wondering, are they just picking and
choosing the parts they like? But I don't know what is actually true and
what is not.
I would like to have a little knowledge before I talk to the parents.

just talk to them and let them know what you are going to do and tell
them you dont know much about there beliefs and you just want to be
respectful and talk to them about it, and they will be so pleased you
did,

I will speak to the parents but I will still tell the kids what I
allways tell them about thier freedom to play ball when they could be in
a place where they are told to work in the fields or a sweatshop.
People died so they can decide for themselves what they want to
do.
I've done this for 24 years and it is quite amazing to see the eyes of
some of the biggest screw offs get real big. This is one of my favorite
times of the year. I think I'll stay with my regular presentation. If
they don't agree so be it but thats what I teach.
Like I said I will still talk to the parents beforehand.

chibear, its good to know that you are concern about the stand of
Jehovah's Witnesses regarding flag salute. The Witnesses do RESPECT the
flag, only that they do not salute it, but it DOENS'T mean that they are
against it. As we all know, the flag is the symbol of one's country, and
saluting to it shows patriotism, so with respect to the country. Now,
what would you think if you see someone who salutes it during the
singing of the National Anthem and then later on got into his car,
started the engine and made 90 then beats the red light? Or a government
employee who claims he loves his country, and he salutes the flag but he
is doing annomalous stuff in his office?

In my POV, respecting and loving our country is not only shown by
saluting the flag, rather by abiding the laws, that way we can be good
citizens by in deeds.

Jehovah's Witnesses do stand quietly while singing of the national
anthem is going on.

I hope this would help on your querries. happy

maybe they dont force their belief's on their child, and allow him to
grow up and make up his own mind..

They come to my house every sat and we have discussions all the time
about politics and religion. I have never had any thing said about them
not talking about it and they sure do work together to build their
temples..
They seem like they have prophecies of doom to me and we even talk about
that. I tell them Im not ready to give up on human beings and they think
we already lost...
