Do believe smoking is a sin as the bible says?What about someone that has accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior, and do try to live their life to please Him, but smokes cigarettes? Some christians say that their not saved because they smoke. What do you all say about this?

surely smoking is ok, even cannabis, didn't it mention somewhere in the bible that Jesus himself was stoned?

I don't recall the Bible confronting smoking as a sin, but can see where that interpetation could be made. I have known many fine Christians, pastors included, that smoked. If everybody has sin, then smokers are no better or worse than anyone else. Christ died for ALL our sins, adulterers, murderers, liars etc. Christ's admonishment about not "casting the first stone" probably applies here just as well as anywhere else.

According to the bible and the teachings of Jesus, there is no sin that can keep a person out of heaven. In the OT god required a blood sacrifice to forgive sins, and he still does in the NT, but the NT suggests that Jesus is the ultimate blood sacrifice that covers all past present and future sins. If you believe the bible and Jesus' teachings (I personally do not) then all you have to do to qualify for this is publicly align yourself with Jesus and his teachings. The whole NT can be boiled down to this, everything else is just fluff.

Wow never learned that in bible school, must have been written by an exsmoker, you know how obnoxious we can be when we quit. Or maybe it was someone with issues about second hand smoke, thought they would stick that in there to get smoking banned in those days..

Who knows.. ugh just another so called sin to worry about. Opps, gotta go have a smoke.

Can you imagine if the content of the bible where written in our time, ack, can you imagine trying to keep up with all the sins we would add to the list now? Geesh we can't seem to find enough ways to imprison our spirit.

Guess that clinches it, I'm going to hell for sure. Better stock up on smokes..

I believe you can smoke and still go to heaven. In fact, you'll probably get there quicker!

Smoking is a sin but you wont be damned because of it. Charles Spurgeon smoked a pipe. C.S. Lewis never gave up smoking. These were both great men of God, used by God powerfully.

i smoke and know it's a nasty habit and unhealthy....but you guys REALLY don't want to see me going through withdrawls lol

you would be taking up a collections to send me a carton just to shut me up. (that's what my brother in law did the last time i TRIED to quit)

smoking may be a sin against your body but I don't think it will be a deciding factor in sending someone to hell.

Once you are saved it does not mean you will never sin again, you will, that is why there is repentance.

smoking is an addiction like food or drugs.. it is a bad habbit...
We are all sinners once you accept Jesus as your savior you are saved by His grace and forgiven.

I have heard teaching on smoking being a sin, because it defiles the temple of God. There are ALOT of things that defile the temple: tattoos, piercings, foods, etc. The body can be destroyed by how WE choose to treat it...instead of how God wants us to treat it.

I don't agree that someone can't be saved, because they smoke. If that was the case...Jesus death on the Cross was for nothing, because WE ALL FALL SHORT of the GLORY OF GOD. We all have areas we struggle with....sins that beset us...that is why we need to be continuously running to the Lord in heartfelt repentance and sorrow.

Mormons don't smoke because of their religion.

I believe the Bible says not to put anything in your body that is harmful. You body is a temple...to honor and cherish it.
