Senator Barack Obama received $101,332 from American International Group in the form of political contributions according to Opensecrets.org. The two biggest Congressional recipients of bonuses from the A.I.G. are - Senators Chris Dodd and Senator Barack Obama.

The A.I.G. Financial Products affiliate of A.I.G. gave out $136,928, the most of any AIG affiliate, in the 2008 cycle. A.I.G.’s financial products division is the unit that wrote trillions of dollars’ worth of credit-default swaps and "misjudged" the risk.

I think the Commander in Thief should set an example and give back the money his campaign took from AIG. Dodd should resign immediately. He is possibly the most corrupt official in Washington.

In February, the Senate unanimously approved an amendment restricting bonuses over $100,000 at any company receiving federal bailout funds, but during the closed-door House and Senate negotiations the provision was stripped out and replaced with a measure by Dodd exempting bonuses agreed to prior to the passage of the stimulus bill on February 11, 2009.

I just came across this in an abc news article. If this doesn't make it clear to the extent of Dodds complicity in this matter, nothing will. All partisan nonsense aside, this man is a menace, and needs to resign.

BREAKING: I was responsible for bonus loophole, says Dodd
Posted: 05:56 PM ET

WASHINGTON (CNN) — Senate Banking committee Chairman Christopher Dodd told CNN’s Dana Bash and Wolf Blitzer Wednesday that he was responsible for adding the bonus loophole into the stimulus package that permitted AIG and other companies that received bailout funds to pay bonuses.

On Tuesday, Dodd denied to CNN that he had anything to do with the adding of that provision.

Not only is Dodd corrupt, he is also a proven LIAR. It is time for Dodd to go. He needs to resign his position as Chairman of the Senate Banking Committee immediately... In the face of all that has been said by Obama and all the Senators and Congressman, how can this man continue in a leadership position?

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Senate Banking Committee Chairman Chris Dodd said on Wednesday he was responsible for a legislative loophole that let AIG pay executives $165 million in bonuses, but that he acted at the behest of the Obama administration.

"We wrote the language in the bill to deal with bonuses, golden parachutes, excessive compensation -- executive compensation, that was adopted unanimously by the United States Senate in the stimulus bill," Dodd, a Connecticut Democrat, told CNN.

................................................

CT has one of the worst records of having corrupted individuals in the government positions.

Sen. Lieberman - the turncoat who goes whichever way the wind blows (McCain's backer although a democrat) and keeps his position, while he has no real support.

Waterbury governor- who is sitting in jail for child molestation

former CT governor Roland - sitting in jail for money laundering

now

Chris Dodd - purposely making loopholes for CEO bonuses.

Connecticut- a formerly "richest state in the USA" went down the drain from corruption and money laundering by parasites who leach on the system. I'm really considering to leave this state as soon as I get a chance.

Now, now, Invictus, you should be sure to watch your step. You seem to be implying that (gasp) there is corruption (or at least bad form from a political standpoint emanating from the left. How DARE you, Sir. Putting away the anti-incredulous sarcasm for a moment, I see NO difference in "Change We Can Believe In" in that so far, there is little change, and even less to believe in. President Obama isn't going to give back the money AIG contributed and neither is Chris Dodd. This is more of the same, more of the same type of rancor and political "look-the-other-way" that we've ALL become too accustomed to having to endure. I guess things will get better and the hole not so deep when we, as the people of this Republic, put down the *$(%(% U##*$(%$ #(#*$% shovel.

I think Obama was about third on the list. So what anyway?? I mean since when do candidates or politicians not receive monies from large companies? It is well known.

I see the reality of it hon. There is not a politician anywhere that does not depend on money from all the large corps and donations from just about anywhere they can get it. It is fact.

Without contributions...they wouldn't have a snowballs chance in hell. Look what it costs to run these days, It is rediculous I know....but true.

I think they should go back door to door and hope like hell that it gets them elected.

I think all presidential candidates should depend on private donations from the public. Or their own money. Keepin it simple and no corporation in the running for more and better. "Suckin up" if you will.

I can think of two candidates that were running for president in this last election that didn't get their money from corporations.

In fact, one of them is known to congress as "Dr. No" because of this. He also received more money from personal donations by military memebers than all the other presidential candidates combined.

But you are right. They didn't have the funding Obama and McCain had. This is why they didn't make it as far. Money talks...
