And yet our government has legislated one trillion dollars to help "prop up the banking industry" (which is corporate speak for "givin' even MORE money to those who already have enough), as well as something like four-billion dollars to "help" the Mexican government "fight" the drug cartels... who will surely end up with whatever weapons, armor and ammunition meant for the government.

Yeah- our priorities are really set up nicely here. noway

i thought maybe you had a plan...i donate everything we don't use anymore to a homeless shelter...and i'm a single mom of 3 so i'm pretty tapped out all the time and it's a long story as to why, but i adore the gentleman that runs the shelter so i send $20 a month to them...i know it's very very little...

the violence i have no inkling...it makes me sick and that's why i don't watch the news...maybe having children should be an earned privilege...

Every little bit helps, I donated roughly $500 to http://www.feedthechildren.org/site/PageServer?pagename=dotorg_homepage last year, which also insn't much for a fiscal year but I don't make a lot of money so I do what I can to donate to not-for-profit charities.

Ever heard of female genital mutilation (FGM)? It affects 10,000 girls in the U.S. a year and 2 million a year world wide... that's 6,000 young girls and women a day... human rights issues are my passion...you should read some of these girl's personal stories...they break you heart and bring tears to your eyes. Thousands of girls die because of this unjust practice.... www.amnesty.com is a great human rights web site.

But yet, every ad you see for charities wanting to " feed the children " don't give a rat's ass about what's happening here in our country. They would rather concern themselves with some third world country that no one had ever heard of.

Wouldn't it be much better to try to help those that we wind up seeing daily??

I volunteer at a local soup kitchen. And once a week I make home made soup for a homeless drop in centre. And once a month I will make soup and sandwiches for them.
