1971, sitting on the band bus coming back from away ballgames. We were
singing Joy to the World, Me and Bobby McGee, and Na Na Na Hey Hey Goodbye. Lots of songs you could sing to back then. Some of em made no sense, did anybody ever know what a lion sleeps tonight or horse with no name meant? But at least we knew most of the words and the tune. Most of the songs now don't even have a tune, you can't understand the words, or the range is so friggin high nobody but a professional singer can sing em, what fun is that? |

Late 73, in the UofM coliseum, Doobie Brothers were hot and it was my
first concert. Of course the memorable song was China Grove. Still remember the lead guitarist having hair down to the stage floor and all that you saw was this hair wave and a guitar neck sticking out. Have no idea how he kept from getting tangled in the strings Further note… Years later moved to Austin Tx and drove to China Grove, um will missed it and had to turn around to look again. At that time there was a bakery, a post office and (because of the song) a small souvenir store. nothing more |

1988 Pink Floyd at the Meadowlands
I'd been to concerts before, I'd been to sporting events too. But, this was the only time I ever felt that the *stadium* was dwarfed by the performance. The music, the effects, the props... just incredible. |
