Ack, they sure are there, listing those particular sites is legal but I doubt it is if they are saying they are supporters of the site when they aren't really.

Just for kicks I am going to the brady site and ask them if they are familiar with the site and if the are a supporter of it. I can't imagine they would be dumb enough to support an open forum like that.

Well I emailed them at the brady site and so far only this confirmation:

Contact the Brady Campaign

Your e-mail has been sent. Due to the volume of e-mail we receive, personal replies are not always possible. Please allow 24-72 hours for a response.

Yaya they all say that, which means I am not likely to get a response unless it's in their best interest to do so. but I am curious so we shall see. I just can't imagine any organization supporting and open forum where anything can be said and associated with them, just doesn't seem smart to me.

Well I have to say at my age, nothing suprises me, but why would you think I would be suprised at the adl site of all of them?

i just did a whois on the website to see who owns it but they used the above webserver which makes sure that when you look up DNS (domain name server) information or a whois that it just points to Moniker Privacy Services. this is done usually for sites that the owners don't want people to know they are affiliated with.

I'm sorry t2d but that is a bit irresponsible, and not true. This is what many people do for the following reason.

As Moniker explains:

Did you know that your name, address, phone number, and email address are available through your domain registration records? Did you know that anyone can lookup this personal information by going to any domain registrar whois and typing in your domain name? Did you know that your competitors, spammers and other prying eyes could be collecting this information without your permission? Did you know that you could put a stop to this invasion of your privacy?

Just to add, while the site owner might us the service to prevent people from contacting them and badgering them about the conent of their site as well, that doesn't mean they are hiding their affiliation, even though some might use it to do just that. But making the assumtion that they are... well you get the point.

boo, you're talking to someone who has been in the webdesign business for two years. most people don't use these things if they have nothing to hide. you put your organization name or business name into the dns records, you don't have to put your phone number or your email address or any information that you don't want to put in there. i am very familiar with dns info because my name is in many many dns info databases. these people have put these kind of sites up for people who have something to hide period.

I beat you record by 13 years, and have registered over 100 domain names for family, friends and clients, I know exactly what they are used for and why, even if some do, you can't make the assumption that this particular site is doing that. At least not with a straight face.

i can too, look at the contents!!! do you think they want people to know who they are? if they are a political group, they are hiding. except for the fact that they are disclosing who their supporters and friends are. i'd like to see who it is.

Well then go ahead and assume they are doing it to hide affiliations then, that's fine with me. Does not make it true, but there ya go.... I'm not going to spend another night arguing with you T2d, anyone can look up this information and find out why people choose to use the privacy options, they are not just about hiding affiliations.

But if you need to be suspicious about this particular site then hey, go for it. But any site with the ridiculous content that that site has would have some pretty ridiculous affiliations as well, if they did at all. Not even worth looking up, at least not for me.

And if they are affiliate with Brady and the others which I am trying to find out, then those organizations might find it interesting to view what is said on a site claiming them as supporters, if not then I would clearly not trust those organizations. Any jackass can type in supporters that aren't really their supporters, but I think they risk legal trouble if they do, and that is only an assumption on my part.

I would wager they simply don't want people sending them threatening letters or emails.
