I just read Lex's book, Moving Day, its from that.

I have a semantic problem with this concept.

To say we are "meant" to do something indicates that there is someone or something out there that decides the "meaning" -- in other words, if we are "meant" to do something, "meant" by whom or by what?

But I believe the only "meaning" we really have is that which we decide upon for ourselves. I see no evidence of unseen, supernatural forces or beings guiding us in any direction whatsoever.

So -- one chooses whether or not one wishes to kill others, or kill oneself. In that the "meaning" is entirely self-determined, self-generated, I can accept this.

I do not see it as a universal condition however. We are not all self-directed to this particular end.
