Topic: Lateral Transfers.....

I'm being asked to think about a lateral move from a more relaxing job I'm doing now, that does have the complication of 'rules' on the tasks changing (sometimes on a daily basis, things are not black and white and set in stone)to a job that offers a greater variety, more stable 'rules', but also more annoying interruptions and more stress.

I've had jobs like that. They weren't all bad. But I'm kinda liking the more relaxed work right now. Only I really think they want me to make the shift.

One of the two people just gave her two weeks notice and there is such a huge variety of stuff with connections to so many different departments, that they want someone familiar with company moved in rather than training someone new.

They can get me certified in that faster than they can get me certified in what I am doing. While it is more relaxing, the fact that there are so many variable and some main frame work, it takes a long time to certify.

I have pretty much until Monday to make up my mind and give them a decision.

Only you know what is best for you... list all the pros and cons if you have to.. Think about your future where you want to be in 2 years or 5? take everything you can into account ...

Of a personal note. and I speak of my own personal preferences.. I decided several times to stay in a certain position even though I could of moved up and received better pay and privliges.. BUT I elected to stay where I was, because I was happy and money and prestige doesn't matter to me. BUT that's me. not you. good luckflowerforyou

No more money, no more prestige, more duties and more stress. After a job w/ a lot of responsibility and a lot of duties I had to jump between, I'm kinda liking compiling. Which only saw two main tasks and two secondary tasks.

I was in a position for 7 years where there was endless hours and a lot of stress. I am now making the change to a more "stress-free" position and could not be happier.
