Texting is very intimate. Only with someone you can trust.

Texting has a short term purpose for me; otherwise, it's annoying. Just call the frigg'n person and talk! whoa OMG -- conversation! Such a lost artform! tongue2

Hi Melody, I have to agree with you with you. I don't like texting.
It seems that people, even my friends, would rather IM or do an email than talk on the phone. It is almost like we are isolating our selves.

So what would you call this????

For some, distance can be a challenge....I live in the middle of nowhere, a gazillion miles from most....and a text is a wonderful expression of someone thinking of you.

I prefer the warm fuzzies to the cold shoulder any day.

It may be a nice expression of someone thinking of you, but I would prefer to talk to my friends on the phone.

As a culture, as we rely more on technology, we lose out on the social aspects of life. The face to face interactions. The looks on family and friend's faces.

For you distance may be a challenge. My sister is right down the street. This is MY preference. I prefer to talk to her face to face, rather than getting an email from her.JMO

I doubt many people have the numbers of other members on this site. I think an anonymous website is not an effective example of IMing vs. talking.

There are many from this site who have my number, and I have theirs, and we have chatted on the phone... I prefer skype as it has real time video conferencing, we can chat/converse whilst visually involved in each others worlds...

Phone calls become expensive, even here in Australia, between friends, and relatives...as to the crew down the street?

Hahaha the most I get from them in a virtual sense, is ..."Your shout for coffee, get your arse down here."

or..." surf is cranking, get out of bed!"
