The only thing I can think of is its synonymity to my given name.

My mother - Sister Sally (dunno, died when I was lil, never got to ask her)

Piph or Epiphany Maria Conchita Hitzelberger

When a bunch of gals would be traveling and go to a bar, we'd make up some "person" to be that night. Well, one night we are shooting pool, and I put up the name "Piph" for the next game. Needless to say, a local with a neck of deep south red asked WTH a Piph was. I told him it was short for my name. He asked my name so I said Epiphany. For some strange reason he didn't believe me and asked my full name... without blinking I spit out Epiphany Maria Conchita Hitzelberger. He spit out his beer and called me a liar. I just gave him a deadpan look and said "do you think I'd lie about a name like that?" The rest of the night everyone bought drinks for Piph.

The name stuck. Now and again, someone will still call me by it for the hell of it.

SHAGNA My name is Shana and before I got married my husband now ex and I use to hate each other as he was a friend of the family and he would call me SHAGNA when he was pissed at me. I use that nick name all the time now lol
