tough call.....moral obligations over parenting

oooh wait.....moral obligation is parenting too!!!

AGREED!!! At what point will his stupid stuff stop? How far will he go if he's not stopped now? You can love him, but not his actions. If you don't do something, you will be complicite. And, eventually, someone's going to get hurt or killed here with this bad behaviour.

Thanks everyone. I know what I have to do. As much as it hurts. But I always told my kids I wouldn't cover for them if they got into trouble. Now that I have the answer and I know he is guilty I can't keep making excuses for him. He needs to grow up.

Ok, it's done. He now a nationwide warrant out for Burglary of a Habitat. I feel like such a horrible person, yet I know I did the right thing.

YES which is what he needs!
I found out while at the police station, he is involved deep into drugs. Though they haven't arrested him, he has been watched for suspicious activity. One of his friends, is about to go to jail for a long time once he goes to court. Wow..how do they(the police) know more than me?? I feel like I don't even know who my son is

If you knowingly withhold evidence of a crime, if he is caught, then you could be charged also as aiding and abetting, or receiving stolen property(in found in your house). If you own your house...and stolen property is found in your possession...your stand a chance of also loosing your home. These are just some possibilities you could be faced with. Something to think about...hope all works out in your favor.think

I was just going to say the same thing...sorry to be another voice added to the dilemma.

I just found out that my son who is 18 and has 3 felonies as a minor, broke into someone's house and stole things and sold them.
They suspect him, but I just found the evidence. Do I turn it in? Do I incriminate my own kid. I did when he was a minor thinking it would help him to pay the consequences. I still think he needs to pay for what he has done, but now he is an adult and will go to prison, especially with his criminal record.

surprised thats toughflowers

It's similar to Alanon but it's for the friends and families of addicts. I put a post earlier on the thread for the on-line Nar-Anon.
