people seem to assume that the president has absolute power....wrong. he has to get past congress....answer to the people...etc so our constitutional rights will be taken away by who and how? he has to have it pass congress,(the senate and the house), but we have seen in the past that both sides are willing to pass such bills regardless of what the president's party affiliation. one side might ***** and moan a bit to keep the illusion of fairness but in the end, these bills will pass because they were agreed upon in the beginning. of course, president bush's own party went against him on the bailout, with the fine artistic moves of shakesperean actors, but inevitably was crushed under the threat of martial law if they didn't vote for it. my opinion is, give them an inch, they will take a mile. |
