That I called you 'sir' or 'ma'am?' for real for real this ole bitty got mad at me for calling her ma'am! all huffy and haughty like, "And you don't hafta call me ma'am I'm not that old." I shook it off lawd help me but every bone in my body wanted to say, "yes you is bish!" I had told the lady a few weeks earlier that I went to military HS and the Air Force so don't pay it any mind...I was just trying to be respectful. Now if i came in to work saying, "Yo, yo, yo" and calling all the women "sweetheart, baby, and honey" I'd be a ghetto embarassment and such....and I can't call people sir or ma'am without ppl getting all bent outta shape. lol....can't win for losing today. I just tell them where I come from its a sign of respect and not said because of age. It is a sign of respect, but if do not wish to have respect I won't give it to you!! I am from the south too!! Don't worry, she was the rude one!! I teach my boys to open doors and say yes ma'am/sir and no ma'am/sir, too. It should not die because of rude people. |

Perhaps it might be best if you say nothing at all. Sometimes less is more.

I suddenly feel like an integral part of the SNL version of this game. Quoting Sean Connery doesn't do it alone. But actually playing the dumbed down version? Oh, I'll carry this experience with me everywhere. =D

It's just a thing with some women. Being referred to as "ma'am" implies we are old. I didn't even know that until now. |
