That I called you 'sir' or 'ma'am?'

for real for real this ole bitty got mad at me for calling her ma'am!

all huffy and haughty like, "And you don't hafta call me ma'am I'm not that old."

I shook it off lawd help me but every bone in my body wanted to say, "yes you is bish!"

I had told the lady a few weeks earlier that I went to military HS and the Air Force so don't pay it any mind...I was just trying to be respectful.

Now if i came in to work saying, "Yo, yo, yo" and calling all the women "sweetheart, baby, and honey" I'd be a ghetto embarassment and such....and I can't call people sir or ma'am without ppl getting all bent outta shape.

lol....can't win for losing today.

It's just a thing with some women. Being referred to as "ma'am" implies we are old... and whether we are or not, we don't want to admit it.

when i hold the door open i've been told off as well, and i merely say, would you rather have me as an ally or an enemy? i don't care what sex you are, i hold the door open for both, but i remember rudeness, and avoid it at all costs. they usually appologize.

Some women think of "ma'am" as someone calling them old. I used to be bothered by it myself. Try Miss or Mrs. instead it'll go over better. Hope that helps.

Try calling 'em "broads" or "dames". That always seems to work favorably.

Perhaps one day you'll get old and understand.

I get that all the time, just for being polite. I had one woman tell me she did not want to be called ma'am until after she had her first ma'ammogram!

then the women correct you if they are married or not married, but then again you could find out if they are/are not by saying miss or mrs...note to self:smile:

Shooooot. Whatever. I think that's how to be polite. I'm a student teacher, and I call my 11 year old students ma'ams and sirs. It's just nicer and more formal than being like, hey, you. Person.
