My main complaint with the PS3 is price. I love that you can put Linux on the PS3 and with most things these days being released for all major systems I don't think game selection is really an issue. However, the price tag on the PS3...I just can' justify it.

Considering the 360 arcade goes for $199,(cheapest you can get) and does not include the $99 wireless adapter, or a hard drive (upgrade kit $80 minimum), or the network cable for attaching it to a router (hardwire) or a charge and play kit, (if you don't want to keep buying AA batteries for it) and anything online involves a monthly fee, by the time all is said and done you are spending the same if not more on the 360. Just not all at once.

If you're looking for a cheap console, you're not going to find one. But at least with the PS3, you get wireless built in, a blue ray player (which almost makes the $400 price tag worth it in itself), and playing online is free. Not to mention that the hdd in the PS3 can be upgraded with any standard 2.5" SATA drive (unlike the 360) for a lot cheaper than the proprietary MS hdd expansion. And then on top of that, you have the ability to add the functionality of a Linux operating system (adding a ton of games and software to boot) without physically having to modify the PS3 by opening it up and soldering anything to it. The only downside to the PS3 for me, is the lack of BC for PS2 titles. But that seems to be moot since I still have a working PS2 anyway. As it is, the PS3 is better at running PSOne titles than the 360 is at running XBOX titles.

You're right. There are no cheap consoles these days. It's why I haven't bothered to buy any and just prefer to stick with my computer gaming. :P

However, the 360s games also tend to be about $10 cheaper if I remember correctly (haven't done that much pricing as I don't buy them, so please correct me if I'm wrong). Sure, the 360 may have a lot of things to buy if you want to get it tricked out, but it can still be more price effective than the PS3 if all you're looking to do is just pop in a game and play.

meh, games are 59.99 for both consoles, every once in a blue moon one particular title may be cheaper on one than the other (same game, different version) but I;ve only seen that on some sports games and when I did see it (I want to say it was Madden?) it was 49 on the Ps3 and 59 for the 360. Really for the amount of technology you get with the Ps3, I won't say it's the "better" console as that's a matter of preference/opinion, but I will say it is the more cost effective way to go, or at least it seems like the better deal to me. I didn't even know that about the hard drive, that's pretty sweet! For those who haven't seen blu-ray movies yet, it really is a sight to behold, I watched 2 Pixar movies (Cars and Wall-e) the other night and they were absolutely stunning, there's just so much that "pops" compared to regular dvds.

OK...bottom line dude. ANYTHING Sony makes is good. Those f*ckin Asians KNOW their electronics. Personally, I won't buy any electronic device unless it comes out of Asia.

Buy both if you can. 360 usually has the same major titles, GAMER points are really cool. PS3 in the long run will be better and you dont have to pay to play online and its specs kick ace!
