I have learned that there are different levels of love. My husband of 26 years died and he was the love of my life. I have had a couple of relationships since his death 3 years ago and though I "loved" these two men, they could not even begin to compete with the level of love that I had for my husband (even when we first met 27 years go).  I think you are right

I always take a relationship slow in the begaining..but i love with my whole heart.....its just the way i am....and im not going to change that....even if it means my heat gets broken....i think it is better to have loved and lost...and hurt...and remeber..learn from it...then to never have loved at all...fully and given it your all...
