she has bad roots...from dying her hair...and she has no money of her own to get her hair dyed again.

and she wants me to take her and get her hair dyed from red to black....with purple tips..

If you are talented, you can do this yourself and save tons of money

I went from red to black an hated it!! but sometimes you just need to let them learn on their own. yeah it is a bit crazy for her age but if she wants to do it then let her...she will learn!
I don't know anything about hair dying, Sounds like red to black is a recipe for more crying later.

Other than her "perceived" emotional state, hair issues are temporary and the most experimental, and expressive fun for teenagers! tongue2

Black with purple tips is a fierce and fun look! Make sure you tell her black is difficult to get out of her hair without a lot of damage -- unless done professionally -- so make sure she will stick with that for a quite a few months. The great part is, she can change the tip color often!

As adults we forget how traumatizing superficial things are at that age. Hopefully, she will learn to handle her emotions, realize this is an easy fix, and start down that path of maturing. I wasn't allowed to be a cry baby but I think sometimes it's OK to cry. winking

Good for you for letting her have fun with her hair!!

I use to dye my hair red and found that it faded really fast.

I've been dying my hair red for 10 years and it stays just fine for me. Red is a lot more of a commitment than most colors as it needs to be re-done often to keep up the color.

If she plans on changing it often I would not go with red.
