Actually, folklore is one of my hobbies and the old-fashioned way is usually the best, unless it comes to drudge work. For example, I would rather go to the store and buy some butter than have to churn it out. |

I wouldn't know if this would qualify for the old fashioned way, but when I was a kid neighbors would say good morning to you or good evening
today they don't even acknowledge you when going outside but then again I live in the city so it is probably different here compared to suburbs or country |
