Where the hell do you come up with this stuff? lol Any relationship can become strained when there are financial hardships. I think if the people are secure in their relationship and communicate their concerns then they can weather the storm of financial uncertainty. If not... they are probably screwed!

I think it can certainly strain it if one of the partners gets caught up in their own financial crisis & fails to share the load or unburden their worries onto the other. It's about communication in the end though. But this happens in marriage most frequently fighting is about money/finances... so yes I think it can ruin a relationship though it isn't the economy ---it would be the communication. Seems to come back to that again & again.
