A friend gave me a "supposed" gold bracelet. Not wanting it, I sent it to that cash for gold. They sent me a check for $14.00. I doubted from the beginning it was real gold. I also sent some fake costume jewelry to see what they'd do. They sent a note with my whopping $14 and said nothing else I sent was worth any money and I had to contact them within 10 days if I wanted the other stuff back.

I think if you are dumb enough to send your gold through the mail then you should be grateful they send you a flipping nickel.
