Officials arrested a man and discovered 1,000 pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop north of the Valley on Friday morning.

An Arizona Department of Public Safety Officer stopped a semi tractor trailer rig for an equipment violation on the northbound lanes of Interstate 17, near New River, around 4:30 a.m.

A search was conducted an approximately 1,000 pounds of marijuana was reportedly discovered inside the trailer mixed in with the legitimate load of frozen food products.

Officials said the vehicle is owned by M & G Enterprises and the driver was making traveling from California to Massachusetts.
