I don't know about all states, but here in NY you can only buy beer in a grocery store. Wine and liquor are sold in liquor stores.
The government wants to pass a new law that puts wine into the grocery store, charging the store a 1/2% fee on total sales for doing so. Even if stores don't want to they will probably do so in keeping up with the market. This will put more money into the state. What is your opinion? PROS and CONS. |

well in the town I live in, you can only buy beer or liquor in a liquor store. No gas stations. No grocery stores. It sucks

I initially thought it was a good idea until I heard it discussed on a radio show. The money would be good for the state but it would close a lot of liquor stores, thus putting more people out of work. Plus it would make it easier for minors to have access to it. |

Why would putting wine in grocery stores close liquor stores? Wouldn't the liquor stores still be selling liquor? Here, you can only buy liquor at ABC stores.

They said that according to stats...most people who go into the liquor stores buy wine on a regular basis.

Ah, ok. I guess I forget what it's like not to be able to get it at the grocery store. Though, I used to live in Maryland, so I had to go to the liquor store to buy wine or beer. So yeah, I understand.

You can purchase hooch in both grocery stores or liquor stores here in Cali. You just need to have a permit to sell alcoholic beverages, and you're all set.
One of the larger-profile liquor stores out there is BevMo, which is kind like the Wal-Mart of liquor stores- It's about as big as a supermarket, and only sells hooch of varying types. |

Where I live you can buy anything but liquor at the grocery store. You can buy everything at the pharmacy though. Beer and liquor and wine at the gas station and 7-11's It is crazy we have a liquor store on every other corner along with auto parts stores.

Beer and liquor are sold at both liquor stores as well as grocery stores here. Most convenience stores (gas stations) also carry beer, and many of them also carry wine coolers at the very least, if not real booze.
However, booze is only available for purchase up to 9:00 p.m., and beer is available for purchase up to midnight. |

I actually prefer the way my state is. No liquor is sold in stores it is all sold in liquor stores period. I know the theft rate is pretty low compared to stores where it is in the grocer's
I know when I travel outside of my state and see it in the grocer's I am always a bit startled. |
