Topic: Mr Right?

ive been surfin through several profiles and on alot if not all of them, have the heading on the ladies profile as "looking for mr right" or sumthing similar.

I see that a lot -- I think there is probably a sort of boilerplate template that women on dating sites use when "creating" a profile -- maybe men use one too, I don't know, since I rarely look at men's profiles --

But 97% of the women's profiles I've seen will inevitably include:

I'm laid back and easy going

I like to go out or stay in

I love my friends and family

I'm shy at first until you get to know me

I'm a single mother of (insert number here) kids and they are my world

No game players, etc.

"Mr. Right" is another hackneyed cliche that proves, once again, it's just so much easier to copy what seventy-three billion people have already written, rather than try to come up with anything original.

ive been surfin through several profiles and on alot if not all of them, have the heading on the ladies profile as "looking for mr right" or sumthing similar. who is mr right? he must be wat all the ladies want since almost every lady is looking for him. i can say im not mr right, or a knight in shining armor, besides, my armor is kinda dented up and a lil dull, taking it to the cleaners next week, anyways... shouldnt it be "mr. be-yourself" ? or "mr. good-enough for me" cuz its hard to find sumone thats just "right" everyone has their flaws and such. im not sure if there is a 100% compatiblity out there, what do you think? i just want to make a girl happy and that shes happy to be with me, even tho i may not be "mr right" drinker hmm i hope this makes sense

It's kind of like a man searching for his princess or queen, right? So many men's profiles say that. laugh

I don't want to be Mr. Right, I just wanna be Mr. Forever. Even if I try my best I cannot always be right for a woman but I want to be there forever.

You come and put yourself out there and set up a profile just to have whatever you put on there ran through someone's wringer. True, some profiles are repetitive, but, some using the same words are genuinely from that person's heart. Geesh! Goes to show you that no one is perfect and if you are looking for perfection, maybe you are in the wrong place . . . rant over!

As far as Mr Right goes . . . I agree with the poster that says that people are looking for who is "right" for them and once you find it - you will know. The person that is "right" for others may not be "right" for you.

I think we all have qualities and standards of what we are looking for in a prospective partner. I am still putting that list together for myself, but, right now I am spending some quality time getting to know who I have become and polishing up on some qualities I have that have been buried under someone else's rubble.

I hope you find what you are looking for. flowerforyou

If you go into a relationship knowing that every person if the wrong person for you, then you have more realistic expectations, its not always your favourite love song time, its real life. No one is gonna save you from yourself.

I am not looking for Mr. Right.

I am not looking for a Knight in Shining Armor... or a knight on a white horse.

I'm not looking for my soulmate, or someone to complete me.

Arrrrgggh.

Those liners are just unoriginal.

from my profile:

I am looking to meet men who are confident, successful, well rounded, who have no emotional baggage and are comfortable with where there are and who they are. We should be past playing games, I think we all know what is going on.
A youthful appearance is big plus, grand fatherly types usually won't make the cut.
Knowing what chivalry means and how to treat a lady is means a lot.

now I'm not asking too much, am I?

Mr. Right is different for everyone. The same goes for the "knight in shining armor". These are just terms used to describe the person who is right for the seeker. Even though the reality will always be as you say, "Mr. good enough" or "Mr. He'll Do".

The tagline is simply a heading to state in few words what a person is looking for. It's meant to be an attention getter. So it should not be taken in the literal sense.

My profile says, "First Mate looking for her Captain" or something like that. It simply means that I like fishing and know my way around a boat... and I would love to find a man with similar interest in fishing and boating, etc.

I love to fish and love being around the water, so it is important to me to find a man who shares that same passion.

It does not mean that I want a man who owns a boat, nor does it mean that I am looking for a job as First Mate on someone's boat.

It's just my heading to attract those who like fishing and an aquatic atmosphere. It's meant to entice those interested to read my profile and hopefully respond.

I've seen some of those. I think it's implicit that "Mr. Right" is actually "Mr. Right for me". And, really, that caption is no more inane than the many men who have on there "Looking for my princess". HELLO!! Go get ya a kingdom and find a damsel in distress, why don't ya!!! noway laugh laugh laugh
