So I put together a neat little contraption today. Since I'm not allowed to take down this stupid pinch-pleat style curtain rod in my daughter's room... we put some eyelet screws in the ceiling, bought a 72" long piece of pvc pipe and strung it up with fishing line after putting up some new sheer turquoise panels that my daughter loves. Much better than the thick, ugly, cream-colored curtains that were there before.

Got the panels for a couple bucks in a clearance bin at some cheapy store, bought the eyelet screws and pvc pipe at Home Depot for $3.00, and bought some fabric by the yard for $18 to make a valance to cover the ugly pinch-pleat rod. I've been hand-sewing the ends of it and bunching it up with a little bit of fishing line tied across a couple sections of it to help balloon it out.
Not bad to have a whole new window treatment that makes my daughter feel at home for less than $25.

What kind of projects have you all done lately? Anything worth mentioning?

Anything blow up in your face when attempting to have a decent project?

I've been totally redoing my kitchen. Over the weekend I retiled the floor, painted the walls and just yesterday all of my new appliances were delivered. I've only succesfully installed the fridge. But only because the guy who delivered it hooked up the ice maker. I just had to plug it in and scoot it back in its cubby.I haven't been able to figure out the dishwasher but I think i'm missing a part.

Projects???? Did somebody say PROJECTS??? happy

I tend to be a 'super nester' so home improvement projects area a passion. Hanging out in Lowe's or Home Depot (or anywhere you find the inspiration) is my idea of a great time, which probably means there is something wrong with me, but hey...at least there is a productive end to the madness (usually!)

Last weekend I painted my new office - wow, what a facelift!

Currently looking at flooring and a new step/mini-deck combo for the patio plus some molding/trim work (be still my heart! )

Just finished 7 rooms in a house ( circa1910) for a friend totally gutted the kitchen and redid it all.. Everything from electrical / plumbing/ sheet rock/ etc etc. and all he other rooms had some water damage from a roof leak that went down 2 floors. ceilings and walls of the old plaster lathe were ruined so they all got replaced. New floors )( pergo) and carpeting every where.. Plus upgrades in wiring and cable connections. Turned one room into a play room for kids. ( she is a day care provider).. I did it for her just because she needed it done. Never expected anything in return. She paid for all materials.. Sometimes I just enjoy doing renovations. bigsmile

Did that very same thing in my living room to seperate it from the kitchen But I used conduit ( metal pipe) so it wouldn't bow.. plain sheer panels. with cathedral or pitched ceilings people look and ask how? it looks like its floating there...

I attached a screw above the center and used one more loop of fishing line in case it started to bow over time.

I just finished tacking up the valance and I'm really happy with the finished product. She's gonna be so excited when she comes home from school today. YAY!

I cant post the pics since my photobucket is being a jerk. lol
