Look at the way women are treated in many islamic countries. They are without doubt treated as a lower class. Its more prevalent in these countries than many Christian nations, but im guessing that the Koran is no more disrespectful to woman than the Bible is.

Women are not suppose to speak on religious matters when the man speaks, women are not suppose to be priest or be a member of the religious higher ruling order, , according to the bible god supposedly made women second from a man’s rib, women aren’t suppose to sit in the same vestibule as the pastor and the list goes on and on .. Is it possible that the bible is used to train women to be subservient and accept abuse from the man ....in the bible women are treated horribly and considered lesser than a man…is this why many women are leaving religion and going in the direction of spirituality … with all the education about mental abuse and it's effects,do it now appear that when it comes to religion mental abuse is acceptable and that religion actually trains and demand that women be submissive to the Man Not only subservient but bad and evil to boot. Eve is the root of all bad that has happened to mankind, what a legacy!!!

The mighty Spartans respected their women and treated them as equals. The Spartans in Sparta (supposingly) worshipped or believed in Greek Mythology that once was a religion in their times. yet I am still not sure if the Spartan's participated in the Greek religion like the rest of the nation did. for I am uncertain if Greek Mythology respected their women in general? I just know from reading and watching documentaries that the Spartan's respected their women and even seeked advice on certain political matters. So yes this would be an unusual event at its time for most of Europe as of the Middle East countries had a different view on how to treat their ladies due to their belief system they practiced. and still do in some countries. Spartan's were the exception to the rule. In general, Greek's treatment of women shifted slightly from city-state to city-state. Can't remember exact ones, but one city kept women on the second floors of the homes. In one of the Greek plays, the 'hero' is being pursuade because of Matricide. But he argues his case before the statue of Athena that he can't possibly be guilty of matricide since women have no part of the children. Children were believed by this group to come completely from the father and the mother is just a vessel to incubate the child. And Athena sides with his argument. Despite the movie, even the Spartans didn't view women as equal. The reason they allowed women to do more than elsewhere in Greece was because they believed for the warriors to be strong, they needed to have strong mothers. They viewed it as having the best breeders possible. |

An unbeliever is an unbeliever. If they choose to wear a veil, it is not because god said so. Maybe god(or religion at least) began the tradition of it, but it stops there. |

Here's my take on the issue, accordin to the bible woman was made from Adam's rib correct? Well here's what I think. Women were not made from Adam's skull to be above him, nor made from his feet to be below him, but from his rib to walk beside him as an equal. Does religion teach to treat women as subservient. For the most part many religions treat and teach to treat women subservient. I as the strong woman that I am refuse to be treated in such a way or have my sons taught to treat myself or other women in such a way. There is good and bad traits in each gender, but as far as I'm concerned we are equals. I am no better than a man but I am definitely no less.
