So, I am walking out of the local bar last night, and in front of me is this couple, big burly guy and nice looking girl in a dress and heels. Well the guy is walking five feet in front of her all the way down the block to their SUV like he is from Afganistan or something. I remind you that this is Wisconsin and we had snow yesterday. There are patches of snow and ice all over the sidewalk and this girl is wearing a dress and heels. They get to where their car is and the guy walks over to the drivers side and gets in while the girl, in dress and heels, has to climb over a snow bank to get in the SUV. And no they weren't fighting over anything. Am I the only one who sees something wrong with this picture? I suppose tommorrow the guy will be writing into a dating site asking why a "nice" guy can't get a second date. I wanted to walk up behind him and give him a good dope slap on the back of the head.

It could also be a regional thing as well. The same values we hold with regard to chivalry and stuff might not apply to other parts of the globe.

It's not a regional thing, Moof. I'm in Wisconsin, too. Some guys are just assholes.

No, I hear ya. I was just pointing out that this seems to be a vicious cycle. You can see the difference in quality guys, but some women will have a bad experience or six and generalise.

Its a sad, sad thing.

Uh huh. I actually had a similar thing happen to me recently and this thread proves to me that I wasn't being ridiculous in getting a little miffed about it. Although I said nothing, it did bother me.

If I think better is none of the man faults .What the heck she was doing with a man like that ? Once again , some ladies just love jerks .How simple is that.

I'll take the lady who actually wants to walk in rough terrain with me. Maybe she isn't into the rituals of public approval, and likes to be independent.

If she has the pizzaz to wear a dress and heels and still kick butt, on her terms, then she's not looking for a doormat. That's not to say that I won't denut a grizzly that looks crosseyed at her.

It kills me how dense some guys can be. Although this guy sounds like a full-time jerk. The way motowndowntown described him I see an alpha-male jackoff who uses his size and his money to target women with low self-esteem.

I don't think being respectful to the lady on an icy sidewalk has anything to do with her being independent. It's more of how you are brought up to treat women maybe?

Women, in general, I will hold the door for, etc.
My response acknowledged [with respect] the fact that a woman can often shape her relationship to fit her personality.
I've not only seen such situations, but have been directly b*tched out by women who scorned any man who opens a door for them, etc.
ohwell laugh
