Recently I've become obsessed with statuary.

I just spent over $300 on statues for in my labyrinth garden.
I even took really nice pictures of them to post,
but my ISP changed my web site address
and I can no longer access it via FTP.
I'm a bit upset about that.

I have about a dozen statues so far.
Most are of fairies and they are only about a foot and a half tall,
but they are quite detailed and painted with antiquated pastels
so they appear to have already been weathered.

One of the statues is a small cherub boy sitting on a swing.
The swing come with rope to hang it as an actual swing.
I will be using this statue to represent "The Fool" at the entrance to the labyrinth.

One of the fairies is sitting on some kind of plant and playing a harp.
I've decided that she will be the Goddess Venus,
and be placed next to the planet Venus on the labyrinth path.

Venus

Another fairy is sitting on a stump
She has the look of a virgin so she will represent Virgo on the path.

Virgo

The following fairy is sitting on a mushroom
A butterfly has landed on her hand
She appears to be balanced with nature or in harmony with nature
so I've decided that she will represent Libra.

Libra

The following three fairies will be set around the witch's circle in the center of the labyrinth
They will be placed at East, South, and West
The one holding the crystal ball will be near the cauldron in the south,
but she will most likely be placed on the altar at the circle's center during rituals
She will represent the guardian of the spiritual gate to the realm of the Goddesses

The fairy with the Tulip will represent the Airy Wisdom of the East.

The fairy riding on the snail will represent the Flowing Emotions of the West.

I have other statues here too that I don't have picture of.

For example, I have two children sitting on a bench kissing.
They represent "The Lovers" of tarot
They just happen to fall on the labyrinth path right after Venus the love Goddess.

I also have a statue of two different children sitting on a bench
The boy is holding a puppy and the girl has a kitten.
I will use them to represent Gemini the Twins.

I also have two statues of standing children.

One is of an older girl holding a bowl
her full grown cat is leaning against her as if wanting fed

The other one is of an older boy
He is holding his dog in his arms
They are both dressed for gardening.

I'm not sure what to use them to represent.
I might just place them out by front of the garden
instead of being on the actual labyrinth path.

I still have more statues to buy!

I have my eye on a 'water boy'
It's a $50 statue but it's about 4 ft tall.
He's carrying a large bowl on his head.
I'm thinking of using him as Aquarius the Water Bearer.

If I ever finish this garden labyrinth, I'll be broke. laugh

Those are really nice, James. You will be able to charge admission to your labyrinth when it is done.

But, then you'll be able to recoup some of your money. And, then you can buy more statues. I love statuary too.

I'm not about to become a business with this.

Someone would trip over their own feet and break a nail.

Then I'd end up being sued.

Besides, I really don't want tons of strangers poking around
in my vegetable garden. laugh

I realize this might seem like a bit much for a hermit to
be building something like this just for his own spirituality
but that's the plan.

I'm sure my friends will alreadying be wanting to bring
tons of people to see it. I suppose I could put up a fancy
"Donations Jar". bigsmile

At least that way I could get a little something from the friends, maybe.

In fact, I saw a really cool donations jar.
It's a large frog and the donations are tossed into it's open mouth.
The only problem is that it's $40. So the first $40 would
just pay for the donations Frog. laugh

I was actaully thinking about getting statuary money this summer
by building wooden lawn ordaments and selling them in a yard sale.

In fact, since all of my statues are so small I plan on building
wooden pedestals for all of them to raise them up.
So maybe I could sell those.

Speaking of building stuff, I better get to it.

I think that's a great idea. I wish I could see it when it's done.

Owl post pictures when it's done. Although this is going to be an ongoing project. I don't expect a whole lot this first year. So much time will be vested in building a deer-proof fence that I'm not so sure how well the garden itself will come along this year.

How well the plants do too will be a deciding factor. I did buy a lot of flower seeds and bulbs. But typically bulbs don't do well the first year do they?

Every year the labyrinth will appear different because it will indeed be alive.

I just completed the plans tonight. I mean, as far as precisely where and how I'm going to display everything. I've got the entire zodiac represented. All the planets, the sun and moon. And the first 22 major arcana of tarot. At the four compass points I have Earth, Air, Fire and Water, as well as Pentacles, Swords, Wands, and Cups. Although there will be Quills mixed in with the swords and the cups will be chalices.

I only wish I would have done this as a little boy.

I walk the path already in my shamanic journeys, on in the dreams the path is more like a yellow brick road and goes on for miles and miles and miles.

None the less, I often think about how well I did on the path in real life.

The path begins with the Life Chakra. I did pretty well on that path, but I misunderstood both the Magician and the High Priestess, I'm certain that this was because of my exposure to Christianity. My father also died when I was nine, so I lost the emperor early on.

I was truly ill-prepared to walk the Love Path which comes next. The Hierophant is the first person to meet on that path, but again, because of Christianity I had already been screwed up in how I viewed the Hierophant. I was also taught that love is a sin. This is because, for me, there is no difference between love and sex. I had never separated the two, so being told that sex is a sin came across to me meaning that love is a sin. This is one bad thing about teaching people these thing. The assumption is that most people seperate love and sex as though they are different thing. But that wasn't true for me, so it truly screwed me up big time.

So in real life I didn't too well walking the path of love. Unfortuantely, that pretty much screwed up the rest of the pathways because all the rest of the pathways assume that you've completed the prior one.

At least now I can see where the mistake was made. Not my fault at all. I was misguided as a child, and I stand by that as my defense in a court of judgment.

I was lied to by people who thought that sex and love are different things. What a bunch of idiots. It never occurred to them that I don't think like that.
