We live in a litigious society, and I never get tired of saying the word "litigious."

It's pretty sad is all I can say.
Just like if your in a argument with someone and all you do is take your finger and poke them with it again they can file assault charges. Sorry but unless they actually hit or at least shove them down I don't see where those charges should stick. |

In all honesty... I don't see our government and legal system holding up long enough for me to be dead before it changes. No government lasts forever. And usually that makes for a whole new set of laws.

well, here in Florida we have a 'Stand your Ground' Law, where if you are protecting yourself, your property, or another person from bodily harm, the State will have a VERY hard time trying to prosecute you. Even if, as a few posts above me said, you shoot a burgler and they don't die, under the Stand law, they cannot sue you if they were involved in illegal activity at the time of getting shot.

I used to be a police officer and when working a domestic, my focus was on the perp and the victim. There were occassions when others stepped in to protect the vic from the beating. I did not focus on those unless they just plain beat the s&*t out of him, more so than trying to help the victim, and usually because the perp made such a scene about wanting to press charges then I was made to fill out a complaint against him.
Anyone who hits a woman or child deserves what he gets. Same for a woman who hits a man or a child. |

same world where if you shoot a burglar in your home and he doesn't die.....he can sue you for everything you have....... go figger....... and as for the original question. its called LOVE that's why a domestic dispute is a law enforcements worst nightmare. One or the other involved will repeat will come to the aid of their spouse.. never fails. |
