There is this girl I work with, I've liked her for a while. She's really really shy, she doesn't talk to anyone but when I talk to her she seems more responsive than to anyone else. So my friend a week or two ago tells her that I like her and she doesn't believe him apparently and gives him her instant messenger address for me to contact her with. She finally logged on and I told her that I had a huge crush on her and she replied with "I would have rather heard it from you than him because I thought he was joking". She then had to go.
So, I worked with her a few days later (this past Saturday) and I go up to her and say "I just wanted to say sorry for having my friend tell you that instead of me". She replies "Oh, It's ok." So then I say "This may not be the best place to ask but I was wondering if you wanted to go out with me?" She looks straight ahead and kind of away from me and takes a second and says "Where do you want to go?" I asked "What are you up to this weekend?" She says "Nothing." Then I asked "How about a movie?" to which she replied with "What's out?". Then I said "I'm not sure, there is a lot of movies that just came out, you going to get on instant messenger sometime this week I'll talk to you about it there." And then she replied "Oh, yeah." She looked ahead/away from me the whole time, but like I said she is really really shy so I don't know if it's nervous or she doesn't like me. But I figure if she gave her instant messenger to my friend for me to contact her with and knew I had a crush on her and she didn't say "no" to my request she might be interested? She hasn't gotten on instant messenger from what I've seen but I think she has been on the computer. Maybe she is just scared or thought I meant this weekend to get on? I work with her in a couple of days and was wondering if I should follow up and ask her to the movies that night or is she not interested? Edit: I am 19 she is 17 |

Edit: I am 19 she is 17 ummm definitely not talk to her online. you have a chance to ask her at work- ask her during break or after work. personally, she sound like she wants to be ask personally- not text and definitely not online! she sound like a girl that needs a man that can be upfront so go for it but don't do it online or texts... CALL HER or ask her in person! |

Get it and hit it.
But like the lady said, face to face, no texting or online. |

Just make sure she's over the age-of-consent, as you'll be in trouble for statutory rape otherwise. In Cali, the AoC is eighteen, just so you know.
BTW- chances are that she isn't interested. |

... and don't do a movie for the first few dates. You can't really get to know a person while in the setting of *shh*

I am going to talk to you like a Mom here!
Son have you lost your MIND? The First thing you need to do is REMEMBER you are and ADULT and she is a MINOR. That is a very big difference and you need to be sure what the laws are before you play these VERY Dangerous cards. Not only do you need her permission to pursue her you NOW must also have her parents. Sex is not the only thing you have to worry about if they don't want you around her. The Second thing is you need to stop putting a WORK relationship on a PERSONAL basis while at work. This is your career future and your freedom that you are putting on the line. I don't know how you expect a minor to react to an adult on the job site but it is YOUR responsibility to obey the law. That you put her on the spot and didn't make you look like and arse is lady like of her and you owe her an apology or at the very least a promise that you will restrain yourself in the future. You are incredibly lucky so far that she has not done what she would be fully entitled to do. What you are doing is sexual harrassment and there are very strict laws against this. Believe me in a tough economy no employer is going to want their business to go down in flames over a lawsuit. Unless you want to ruin your life you need to CHECK YOURSELF. Dismissle for cause will follow you for years. The Third thing you need to do is to decide if this girl is more important to you than the job. If she is then find another job and give your two weeks notice. Until then leave her alone. Get the next job before you quit this one. If she likes you she is not going to loose interest in two or three weeks. She may or may not appreciate that you make the sacrifice but you can stake your life on the fact you keep pressureing her on her job she will at least think you are a jerk and make yourself and enemy to her friends and family. Personally she has already told you she is interested in your mutual friend. Likelyhood would be if she goes out with you it is only to make herself look more desireable to your friend. You push this you are making yourself nothing more than a tool and she will loose whatever feelings of respect and friendship she might have for you. Fourth if you want to pursue this or any other dateing relationship you need to get your act together. You don't ask for dates on the job you respect a lady enough to respect her privacy. And if you want to ask a lady for a date then man up and figure out the specifics instead of stumbleing all over yourself. You are a man it is time you stop the school yard games and going through third parties to see where your relationships, even beginning ones, stand. Good Luck. Matters of the heart are complicated and often painful. Sorry. |
