Bumping this up in a shameless bit for a few more good thoughts. We see my son's hematologist/oncologist in about 90 minutes, hopefully find out what exactly is wrong with my boo. I'm as scared as I don't know what and am just praying that it's not as serious as I fear.

update -- just back from the doctor. All his tests came back negative, they believe, this time, that it was just a weird virus that has probably run its course. There's nothing more to do at this point but wait and see and hope whatever it was doesn't come back.
