As usual, I can't sort out what's real from what's hearsay, but if it is
true that twostep simply chose to deactivate because he didn't like
emails he received - this has nothing to do with mike or van, or
censorship, or PC. Its just a misunderstanding that got out of hand.

Well gonnna put my two cents in now. lol First of all as far as the
contents of the threads here the ones you don't like stay out of them or
help start new ones on new subjects.

As far as the comment on Sug and someone being offened is about the most
childish thing I have ever heard. That person all they had to say was
please don't call me by Sug, Babe, sweety etc call me by my name. Yes
there are women that don't understand that is only an expression and
nothing meant by it for it is how some address all women they talk too.
But if a person does not like it they need to speak up and not act like
this is pre-school and run to the teachers they have more important
things to think about than that.

Now as far as Twostep deactivating his account. I'm sorry you felt the
need to leave man. Over what a few e-mails about someone getting pissy
about being called Sug. As far as what you had posted since you had been
here they were always pleasant to all and never anything but a kind word
to all. Hell the only one you ever cut down was yourself.

Now for Twostep & bikerbobd, on both about deactivating ya know for two
that are suppose to be men your sure not acting like it in my eyes. For

One guy's opinion:

1. I like Steper. I have told him that a lot of us would like him to
come back, but he really doesn't seem to be so inclined at this point.
And that's his choice. I will say I find it totally incomprehensible
that anyone could be offended by a harmless little term of endearment
like "Sug."

2. There should be some sort of procedure in place to address the issue
of people who file false abuse reports. I'm not saying that's what
happened in this situation (I simply don't know enough of the
background), but it could happen.

3. Re: sex and drug threads. Sex has its own forum, and I would assume
that anything posted in there, as long as it's not abusive or assaultive
towards another member, has a certain degree of protection. I
personally don't care to discuss about 82% of the topics in that forum,
but that's just me. I can always find another post or another forum to
read.

Drug threads -- well, the fact is, as above, if they're not breaking any
of the rules, then you get into a sticky censorship situation.

Me, I have no use for any thread that gets into drugs or alcohol at all.
That's why I don't participate in the "pub" threads or the "rum"
threads, or any of that. To me, if you're going to drink, you might as
well just shoot yourself in the head -- it's the same thing, only the
gun is a hell of a lot faster and there will be one less person likely
to get loaded and plow their car into a school bus.

BUT -- this sort of post doesn't violate any of the site rules, as far
as I can see. So, again -- I just move on to another post.

If you have a situation where someone is trying to use the site to sell
drugs, then, yes, that's a problem, and it should be addressed. But
that's not all that much different from trying to sell ANYTHING here,
like that vitamin spammer we had a few weeks back, except that vitamins
are generally legal to sell in the real world.

If people want to talk about drugs or alcohol, and no one is being
attacked or abused, then how do you justify taking any action against
them?

How is it any different from talking about religion or current events?
I'm an atheist, but I wouldn't try to shut down the religion forum. If
people want to believe in their own mythologies and superstitions, how
does that hurt me? Again, I can move on to the next thread.

Bob, I agree with your premise that "Sug," per se, is a whole lot less
ofensive than some of the other things you see here. Where we differ is
in that I don't think you can make a case for censoring topics
(particularly chosen arbitrarily at the whim of one member or any small
group of members) simply because we personally would prefer not to see
those topics mentioned.

That gets dangerously close to the "I want this site to be the way I
want it, and to hell with what anyone else wants" mentality I have
discussed in previous posts.

I don't like the sex and drug threads any more than you do. But to ban
them outright means that some members would no longer be able to discuss
topics that are of importance to them, and I don't think that's right,
either.

So I just move past those theads....
