THIS IS NOT A RANT! Just a vent.......You ever notice how when you compliment someone how their face and eyes light up and how it makes you (and them) feel good to know that you brightened their day even just a little bit. The reason I'm talking about this is because of a situation that happened to me. I went on a date, spent some time getting ready, was dressed approiately(?) for the date and the guy never even said squat about how I looked. Now I'm not wanting someone to fawn over me with compliments but just to acknowledge that I looked nice, or nice blouse or even Hey, nice shoes!(thanks). What's so wrong, that people can't give out a compliment, try it sometime, next time you are out and about compliment someone, see how good it makes them feel and you!Pour some sugar on them!

Maybe if you just started dating he was tongue tied. Sometimes men say nothing when the are scared. They are just as nervous as us but do not like to show it.

Oh yeah when I first met him for a coffee date I complimented him. And even wrote him a note after the coffee date complimenting him, Nada, nothing back from him. And he wrote me a note after the date (the one I wrote about) and I would think he would say something then. It just reminds me of my ex he wouldn't hand out a compliment because he was so jealous (and "hated" women) that I think he thought it would go to my head and I'd start strutting about, like uhhuh, I'm so hawwttttttttt.

But actually this topic is about complimenting others, me I'm over this guy that and a few other issues made me decide "he's just not worth it". But instead of pay it forward how about pay a compliment and just see how good it makes you and the person feel...........Nice shoes

If I meet a guy and he says nothing I just casually ask him what he thinks of my new outfit, or whatever comes to mind.
Attack is always the best defense, I think?

I love to give compliments just to see the other persons face. I like getting them but I don't get many. Oh well it has to be company I am keeping.( horses don't talk do they? )

I also know how to copy and paste into a file and then I can print it out and take the suggestions with me and when I want to compliment her hair I can pull out a sheet and say "nice shoes" lol

This is a hilarious thread - just read through it. Unfortunately, giving a compliment doesn't always get a compliment in return. Some men just have no class!! Of course, not any of our sweethearts here in the Mingle over 50's threads meant to say that all our guys here DO have class!!
