Yes, horrific spelling, grammar, and punctuation irritate me to no end. Call it my proper education coming out, and I won't apologize for that. What bothers me even worse are people with the careless attitudes about it, whether it's those who are doing it, or those who are sticking up for them by allowing it to continue.

I can explain this from my point of view. There are no forum rules against improper spelling and grammar, there are against insulting and attacking people.

Are there rules against offering helpful suggestions? I've seen a couple posts (at least) on using Firefox because there is spell check built in and those were deleted.

If the advice or suggestion was not elicited it can be embarrassing for someone to be 'corrected' in the open forums, especially a newbie, it's intimidating. We're all here to make friends and/or more, hopefully in so doing we are putting our best foot forward. We have to allow people to be who they are and in their own way make a good impression. If they fail to do so, it's on them.

I was talking about a couple threads that weren't directed toward anyone. But yeah, I understand.

Sometimes I purposedly misspell words just for the fun of it.. To see it the Grammar and spelling police are on the job.. And sometimes yes, I am lazy and don't bother to sit here and correct every thing I post.. so sue me.. I guess I just don't want to be perfect all the time. And I don't mind showing my falults. Maybe, just maybe I really don't care what others think? Yes, I think I will go with that one. It is the most honest of reasons. I don't pretend to be better or more intelligent or claim to have a better schooling then others here. But I am glad to see that my attitude ( which is nothing more then my personal behaviour not up to someone else's standards) gets to them . I think thats the funniest thing I ever heard. Next to a frog's water tight a$$ farting in water.ill   surprised surprised

I typically don't have a problem with stuff like grammar and punctuation or spelling. After all, we've all got differing levels of education, so there's going to be some variance with regard to who'll be good with grammar and who won't.

The only time it gets to be a problem is when there ISN'T any punctuation or grammar to speak of. Trying to read a one sentence long paragraph is just not right.

Along with the one long sentence, I can't stand when the person types text-speak..... U R so fkn hawt n dat iz dat.......or when someone comes on and says that they are so good with "there grammer" and others should take the time to spell correctly and learn to type.

Then I will quote them and do a spell-check for them....just to point out their errors......okay, so I'm a smart-ass once in a while. bigsmile bigsmile

I can only hope that none of my kids' teachers ever feel this way.
