Goats and chickens dont count as a date!

The point being is Canada as our neighbor is hurting twice as bad as us, and that as America goes others go twice as far.

Our tax money should be spent on American made products to create American jobs.
Canada needs to create their own stimulus package and quit expecting our tax money to save their economy!

oh and hold the phone on that one!!!!! laugh laugh laugh Why would your tax dollars affect us????

Personally, I don't believe we (the US) are hurting nearly as badly as we're being TOLD we are either. The only true point of reference we all have is our own personal lives. One thing is certain, "Farmer Bill" may not have a big screen plasma television; However, he will be the last to go hungry.

The American government modus operandi..."Create a crisis and to be the only ones to have the solution to it"- the tried and true method by our government to consolidate and allow certain political parties to remain in power. One party relies on demonizing "the rich" (the producers) to eliminate the competition (E.G. The private banking/lending and healthcare institutions). The other party negotiates trade policies from a position of weakness, increasing that dependency upon other countries for goods and services.

"Should we all say the same about you???? When you are all crying on my doorstep wanting jobs???? At this point....mexico is doing better than YOU and you better count your blessings and maybe learn another language cause you just may need it!!!". Oui, oui...Excellent point.

"What does "perturbé chats" mean, btw?". My French is extremely rusty and please feel free to correct my translation if I've made a mistake- "perturbé chats" = disturbed cats.

Greed is why we are in the situation at hand. Poverty may be the only way out....

Gypsy,
Canada is losing jobs twice as fast per pop as the US.
Last month Canada lost 9.1 jobs to America's 4.6 taking the Population of both countries into effect.

Canada lost 129,000 jobs for a pop of 32 million.
The US lost more, 600,000, but our pop is 330 million.

You can do the math. I already did on the first page of this thread.

Sorry!!!

Now, Taxes.
The Us put a Buy America First clause in our stimulus. (Our Taxes)
Canada and every other country, (not just Canada) has been crying about it since they read it.
Beyond crying about it, they have begun legal proceedings in International Courts to try and prevent us from doing this.
Evidently they think our taxes should help create jobs in their country and stimulate their economies.
If the money isnt spent here it will piss off 82% of our country!

This is a Poll floating around the US;

http://mingle2.com/topic/show/202952?page=3

Should 'Buy American' be part of the stimulus bill? Results

Q. A "Buy American" clause in the $900B stimulus package allows, with some exceptions, only U.S.-made materials and goods to be used in projects funded by the bill.

Do you think a "Buy American" clause should be included in the stimulus bill?

Yes. With a few exceptions, all steel, iron, or manufactured goods used in a stimulus-funded project should be made in the U.S.A. 82%

No. There should be no import restrictions placed on such projects. 15%
Not sure/No opinion 3%

Again,
Sorry!

Yeah, I was thinking along those lines. However...

"Chats perturbés" means "disturbed cats."

"Perturbé chats" means "cats disturbed" except the adjective doesn't agree with the noun, not to mention the word order is backward.

SO:
"Preuve, il y a des manières multiples de peler mentalement - perturbé chats." Means...PROOF! There are multiple ways to peel it mentally. And P.S. You all are cats, but only one of you is disturbed!

lmao I must just suck at French. >_O

Lol, as for whether the Stimulus Package should include a clause about buying American goods, in particular steel, iron, etc....I think it may be the wrong way to do it.

A perhaps better way to do it would to throw tariffs or something similar on foreign goods so as to give American goods a fighting chance, but not complete superiority in the market. This would encourage more competition between the American industries and the Industries (cough CHINA/INDIA), rather than give American industries a monopoly over the American market. Ultimately, that sort of thing would benefit everyone...

Then again, does anyone know the mechanism by which the government would encourage the sale of domestic goods? Is it a tightening on imports or is it a huge tariff or what?
