The funny part is, that all those who continuously bash what Obama does or doesn't, they don't have any alternative idea what to do. It's like me complaining about how the chinese food sucks, but meanwhile I can't even cook to begin with and I'm unwilling to go to a different restaurant. /note for the lades: it was just an example, I know how to cook/  How about doing nothing and let the market take it's course? It will actually heal itself that way and get us off this fixation that is credit. But apparently that means I don't care about others and I'm unamerican. |

Bush, for all his foibles, played a true cool hand with his critics, laughed when shoes were thrown at him and reveled in this thing that is about to go on the endangered species list in our nation—namely our freedom. Socialists like Obama, however, cannot work in an environment in which leaders and citizens do not do-si-do when he says so. Geez, the press corps can’t even toss him a question during a meet and greet without Barack getting testy. Therefore, Limbaugh, and all dissenters like him, must bow and kiss the ring or suffer vilification and marginalization for not being “bipartisan and tolerant.” I would rather bikini wax a sensitive and livid grizzly sow than be a “tolerant bipartisan” toward the bloated government, pro-death, anti-free market, crap on traditional values, socialism squared, nanny state policies Obama has floated in the last few days. The problem with this ideal is that is what was done the last time and it took a long long time for the country to recover because of it. The experts who have studied the 20s depression have told us and Obama this was the mistake made at the time. |

That was the massive spending plan by FDR that was supposed to get us out of the depression. as you know, it obviously didn't work because it took the wartime economy of WWII to get us out. Experts that have studied the depression actually believe that (along the exact lines of capitalism) the spending to "save" everyone essentially didn't allow those that needed to fail to fail and perpetuated the Great Depression. Like I've always said, promoting the losing ideology of those that need to fail and keeping that failing ideology on top with government funds prevents the free market from doing any repair on itself. By allowing the crash, at the bottom there will always be those that did not take as large a hit and they will invest in the market that is now low and rise to the top. the cycle then starts anew. I feel the reason for the instability in the stock market and the questioning of "where is the bottom" is not the result of the financial or housing crises, but rather the fact that people are investing based on the stimulus and the uncertainty that comes with it. There is no guarantee that the bill will work or even prevent things from getting worse (let alone no way to tell what would have happened without it). If we stood back and said "nope, no help" then yes, people lose jobs. yes, people lose houses. yes, we'd probably fall into a temporary depression. That is the nature of the free market - there is the wonderful highs of the mid 1990s and the middle of this decade but those highs require planning to prevent any severe damage from the lows that followed - namely 2000-2001 and now. We must be weened off our credit-driven society and go back to the economic principles of the early 1980s (Reaganomics that fixed the mess of the 1970s) where credit was just for homes and cars and emergencies and even then, it was only given to those that were qualified. The American Dream is not deserved - it has to be earned. The fact is, while 1929 looks familiar to the untrained eye, the entire landscape, both personal, industrial, and political has changed dramatically. Cross-country travel was more often than not done by a very slow car or for many still by horse and cart. Even when they got there, the west and mid-west are far more developed than they ever were. The internet has brought the entire world together. Correspondence can be sent from New York to Hong Kong and then on to London in a matter of minutes. Jobs will develop wherever they are needed and getting from one locale to another has never been easier. If there are no jobs where you are in your field, there are likely going to be some somewhere else. There is no more wondering if there is a job available when you get there as in the 1930s. You can get online and find a job in your field anywhere in the country in a matter of minutes. Problems with capitalism occur when socialism is infused. I support regulation of pay at the top but that is about it. Let the market run free and it will always repair itself. |
