2 years after my dad died .. my mom created the tradition to send each other valentines.

its not just for lovers i guess.

i just want her to remember that she is loved.

and yeah.. dude sure valentines day itself is a freakin commercialized nightmare...

but america has nothin to do with telling you when to enjoy love in any sense. you make that CHOICE.

so don't blame anyone else but yourself for not showin love.

LOL duh.

I wasn't blaming anyone for not showing love.. in fact I show people all the time VERY often and rarely get it in return, so go preach somewhere else. Duh.

I kinda prefer the alternate name, Single's Awareness Day. It reminds us how good we have it.

See? I'm a booster!

That's just S.A.D.

I never saw the point in it at all except for the flower and candy companies who rake it in for the day.

Hatin' V-Day as I type this. I've even resorted to emptying out a bottle of merlot just trying to forget this most cursed day.

wine sounds good. thanks for the idea. I think even the crappy cooking wine would fix this situation.

For those of us who:

*Might have a date on V-day or might not...

*Hate that America sets only one day aside every year to show the one you love that you love them...

Want to complain about our complete lack of a love life...

Generally want to find a place where the mushy in love people aren't fawning over each other in pukey mushiness...

Pull up a chair.. have a beer or a cup of coffee or tea... relax... and know that you're not alone.

I personally can't stand most things about V-day, besides the fact that I don't usually have a date. Getting recently dumped from 2 months of great conversation and spectacular dates, I'm reminded how alone I am. YAY me!

So what's your issue with V-day?

Well at least you didn't get dumped the day before V-day like I did.. Yesterday.. Oh joy.

It's a cutsie holiday that just needs to die a miserable decapitated, spindled and mutilated bloody death. I never needed a holiday to be loving to someone, and as a matter of fact know that I'm doing the right thing for at least one employee who half expected at least a valentines day card from me, forgetting that we've never kissed, held or even acted in a romantic way to each other. What she gets from me is much more important, an easy job so she can take good care of her 3 daughters, and a real friend.

Without sugar coating it in the least, Valentines day reminds me that in one area of my life, I've failed. Will it stay that way? I doubt it, but I don't particularly feel cutsie about it and if I were in the middle of a relationship with someone, I'd likely do the card, dinner and candy thing, but it really wouldn't compare to the year's worth of roses and loving in other ways.

Half a date today, and sent home early because he wants to take a break in between relationships and just be friends first and doesn't want us to snuggle in the comfort of his home. Talk about a huge rejection. I feel like a leper.

You'd feel worse if you lived in Bakersfield.
